Spectrum Business Phone vs Mynians VoIP: What the Fine Print Actually Says
Spectrum Business advertises phone service at $20 per line. That price is real — and so are the four conditions attached to it. This page puts Spectrum’s own published terms next to ours, quotes them directly, and tells you plainly where Spectrum is the better choice. Every Spectrum figure below is quoted from spectrum.com or Charter’s newsroom and was verified on 26 August 2026.
- Keep your Spectrum internet. Move only the phones. Your numbers port; your circuit doesn’t change.
- No bundle requirement, no new-customer-only pricing, no autopay or paperless penalty.
- Direct Mynians support, and a published price that does not reset after twelve months.
First, the thing most buyers don’t know
Spectrum sells two different phone products, and they are not built the same way.
Spectrum Business Voice
- Spectrum’s own traditional business phone lines, sold per line over Spectrum’s network.
- Spectrum positions it as “ideal for office-based setups with traditional phones.”
- Unlimited calling to the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, plus 2,000 long-distance minutes to Mexico.
- Spectrum advertises “35+ premium calling features.” The complete list is not published.
Spectrum Business Connect
- The official product name is “Spectrum Business Connect with RingCentral.”
- It is RingCentral’s cloud phone platform, delivered over Spectrum’s network and billed by Spectrum.
- Charter launched it with RingCentral in November 2022 and announced an expanded RingCentral partnership in March 2026.
- RingCentral runs the co-branded service status page for it.
Why this matters to you
If a Spectrum rep is quoting you Business Connect, you are being quoted RingCentral with a Spectrum bill wrapped around it. That is not a criticism of RingCentral — it is a mature, capable platform. But it means the platform decision and the vendor decision are two separate decisions, and you should evaluate them separately. We wrote a full comparison of that platform on its own terms: Mynians VoIP vs RingCentral in Florida.
It also means a Business Connect quote is not directly comparable to a Business Voice quote. Spectrum publishes a per-line price for Voice. It publishes no per-seat price for Connect — the figures shown on the Connect page appear to be bundle prices that include Internet service. If you want a Connect number, you have to ask for a quote.
Head to head, using only published terms
Where Spectrum does not publish something, this table says so rather than guessing. “Not published” is a real answer and you should treat it as one when you compare quotes.
| What you’re comparing | Mynians VoIP | Spectrum Business |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price per line | $17.95/mo (Essential, 5-line minimum) | $19.99–$20/mo for 12 months |
| What happens in month 13 | Same price — “no price increases after Year 1” | “Standard rates apply after promo period.” The standard rate is not published. |
| Must you buy internet from them? | No. Keep the internet you have. | Yes. Every advertised phone price requires bundling with Spectrum Business Internet. |
| Available to existing customers? | Yes | Promo is “qualified new business customers only” |
| Payment-method fees | None | $10/mo without Auto Pay, $5/mo without paperless billing |
| Annual contract | None — 30 days’ notice to cancel | None on small business services |
| Setup and equipment | No setup or installation fees | “Installation & other equipment charges, taxes & fees may apply.” Connect: “Phone equipment is not included with service.” |
| Smallest account they’ll take | 5 lines (10 on Enterprise) | Connect requires 2 users; no minimum published for Voice |
| Uptime SLA on the phone product | Ask us for our current SLA terms in writing | Spectrum’s 100% uptime SLA covers Dedicated Fiber Internet, Secure Dedicated Fiber, Ethernet, Cloud Connect and Enterprise Trunking — not small-business Voice or Connect |
| Outage credit | Not published as a standing policy | Full-day bill credit for outages over two hours — excluding natural disasters and power outages |
| Support model | Direct Mynians support | 24/7, published as U.S.-based, via national numbers segmented by company size |
| Who builds the cloud platform | Mynians | RingCentral (Business Connect) |
| Regulatory fees and surcharges | “No hidden regulatory fees or surcharges” | “VOICE: Taxes and fees extra.” Amounts not itemised publicly. |
Spectrum figures observed on spectrum.com and corporate.charter.com, 26 August 2026. Spectrum’s own pages state “pricing subject to change” and “limited-time offer.” Verify current terms with Spectrum before you decide.
Where Spectrum Business is the better answer
We would rather you make the right decision than the one that pays us. There are real situations where Spectrum wins, and it costs us nothing to say so.
Choose Spectrum if…
- You have fewer than five phones. Our plans start at a 5-line minimum. Spectrum Business Connect starts at 2 users. For a two-person office, we are the wrong call.
- You want one vendor and one bill for internet, phone, TV and mobile. That is genuine operational simplicity, and we cannot match it because we do not sell internet.
- You need the access network and the phone service to be the same company. Spectrum owns the last mile into your building. When something breaks there is one company to call. We ride the internet connection you already have.
- You’re buying a full product ladder. Spectrum goes from a single line up to SIP trunking, Microsoft Teams calling and RingCentral’s AI contact centre. A business planning to grow into that will not outgrow them.
- You’re leaving a competitor with an early termination fee. Spectrum publishes a contract buyout of up to $1,000 when you install two or more services. That is real money and we do not offer an equivalent.
Also true, and worth knowing
- Spectrum does not lock small businesses into annual contracts. Charter stated in February 2025: “We do not have annual contracts for any of our small business services.” If someone tells you Spectrum traps you in a term, they are wrong.
- The entry price is genuinely competitive. $20 a line with unlimited U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada calling is a good headline number, and the Mexico minutes are broader than most budget plans.
- Spectrum publishes a 30-day money-back guarantee and a three-year price guarantee on qualifying Ultra and Gig internet bundles.
- Coverage across Florida is deep — Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville and dozens of smaller markets.
- The BBB rates Charter Spectrum A+. We are not going to pretend otherwise.
What ten lines actually costs, and what you can’t know
Below is the honest version of the maths. One column is fully knowable in advance. The other has two variables Spectrum does not publish.
Spectrum Business Voice — 10 lines
| 10 lines at the advertised rate | $200/mo |
| Required Spectrum Business Internet | Additional |
| Not on Auto Pay | +$10/mo |
| Not on paperless billing | +$5/mo |
| Taxes and fees | Extra, not itemised |
| Installation and equipment | “May apply” |
| Year one, phone lines only | $2,400 |
| Year two, phone lines only | Not published |
Mynians Essential — 10 lines
| 10 lines at $17.95 | $179.50/mo |
| Internet requirement | None — keep yours |
| Payment-method fees | $0 |
| Regulatory surcharges | $0 |
| Setup and installation | $0 |
| Number porting | Included |
| Year one | $2,154 |
| Year two | $2,154 |
Read this before you use those numbers
The $2,400 figure assumes you are on Auto Pay and paperless billing, that you already qualify as a new business customer, and that you are buying Spectrum Business Internet alongside it. It excludes taxes, fees, installation and equipment, because Spectrum does not publish those amounts. The real year-one total will be higher than $2,400, and we cannot tell you by how much — only your quote can.
Our $2,154 includes everything except taxes that any provider must collect. If a comparison ever looks too clean, ask the provider to put the second-year number in writing. That single question separates a real quote from an introductory one. Our full Florida VoIP pricing is published rather than quoted.
The Florida detail nobody reads until it matters
Spectrum’s Business Customer Commitment offers a full-day bill credit when a service outage runs longer than two hours. The commitment excludes natural disasters, power outages and scheduled maintenance.
In a state that plans its year around hurricane season, those are the exact three scenarios that take a phone system down. The credit is not the point — a day’s credit on a phone bill never covered a day of missed calls. The point is what the exclusion tells you about where responsibility sits when the weather turns.
What we do differently
- Calls follow you off the desk phone. If the office loses power, the same number rings on the mobile app.
- What we publish on call routing and continuity is here: VoIP failover and redundancy. Ask any provider you are comparing to show you the same in writing.
Where we serve
- Orlando business VoIP — and our home office is in Winter Garden.
- Tampa business VoIP
- Miami business VoIP
- Jacksonville business VoIP
- Spectrum serves all four metros too — though its own disclaimer notes “services & promo. offers not avail. in all areas,” so check your specific address.
Switching from Spectrum without touching your internet
This is the part most owners get wrong. Moving your phones off Spectrum does not mean moving your internet off Spectrum. The two are separate services on the same bill, and you can keep one and leave the other.
Read the bill
- Separate the phone line items from the internet line items.
- Check whether your internet price is conditioned on keeping the phone bundle — ask Spectrum directly, in writing.
- Confirm your promotional end date and what the standard rate will be.
Port the numbers
- Your numbers are yours. They move with you.
- We run the new system in parallel first, so nothing goes dark during the port.
- Full detail: how VoIP number porting works.
Cut over, keep the circuit
- Phones move. The Spectrum internet circuit stays exactly as it is.
- Cancel only the voice portion of the Spectrum account once the port completes.
- Full detail: our installation process.
One warning we’d give you even if you stay
Before you cancel anything, confirm in writing whether dropping the phone service changes your internet price. Spectrum’s advertised bundle pricing is conditioned on maintaining the qualifying services — its own disclaimer says standard rates apply “if qualifying services not maintained.” It may be nothing. It may be material. Either way you want it in writing before, not after.
